Self-Evalutation #2

On my informative speech, I feel that I achieved the purpose of informing people about Persian New Year. Since it was something I was really familiar with, I felt that I was very confident about my presentation. I was more comfortable delivering this speech as to the last one I did. I think when you are confident with your topic, you come off more confident when giving your presentation. The only change I would make is that I would make is to practice more with my slides. I didn't practice with my media enough because when i gave my presentation, i wasn't sure what the next slide would have on it, so i had to base my presentation on the slides. I feel like this time i had really good content, just because i knew what to research and what i needed to present. But next time, i might look deeper in the sub topics i talked about and showed some interesting data or statistics to make my speech more interesting. Next time in my delivery, I would make my media better. After reading chapter 11, i realized that my slides could have been better. If i changed the background color, fixed the font, and use less writing, it would have been more effective. In my persuasive speech, I'll make sure to pay more attention to how i make my slides. A good thing that was different from my last speech, is that I really knew what i was talking about and was a lot more organized. Last time, i could have been organized in my presentation. Something that was different, but not as good as last time, would be my eye contact. Even though i knew everything i was supposed to talk about, I still had to look down at my note cards a lot. I feel that i did this because i had a lot more information to present. When watching the video, even though there wasn't sound, i realized that i don't move around as much as i thought i did. I thought I was distracting by using my hands too much, but when i watched the video i didn't do it as much as i did. If anything, cell phone went off when i was doing my speech and i surprised myself by continuing presenting instead of stopping. I think my eye contact during this speech would be a 5. I realized i spent a lot of time looking at my note cards and my media, rather than looking at the audience. I would probably give myself an A- or B+ on my speech. I felt like i had a huge improvement from my last speech, but still had some room for improvement. Since my video doesn't have sound, i couldn't count how many times i cited my sources. But i do recall saying at least 3 during my presentation. I think this speech was a lot better than my last speech because i was a lot more confident. Also, this time i knew what i was talking about which made me very comfortable with what i was presenting. Since everything i was talking about i had personally experienced, i didn't have to worry about presenting false facts or wonder if people were questioning what i was saying. This time i think i did a lot better, and even by watching the video i could tell that i was really confident and knew my speech.
